Joining our Church ~
We are glad you want to join our church. It has a
vibrant
congregation with activities for everyone. Depending on your
circumstances, you may join us through:
- Letter of transfer.
People who presently belong to
another church may ask us to write a letter requesting that their
membership be transferred to First Presbyterian Church, Hampton.
- Profession of faith.
If you have never joined another church, you will be
asked to profess your faith in Jesus Christ as your
Lord and Savior.
- Reaffirmation of
faith. People who have let their
membership lapse in other churches may, upon reaffirming their faith,
unite with us.
- Affiliate membership.
If you anticipate being with us
for a short time, you may maintain your membership at your home church
while joining us. This is a popular option for the military
members in the area.
Regardless of which method is used, everyone will appear
before
the session to affirm their believe in Jesus Christ. This is
usually done Sunday morning between the worship services.
Following that, you will be accepted during one of
the worship services on the last Sunday of the month.
Please turn in to the church office a completed membership form.
An Inquirer's Class is held quarterly to provide
prospective or
new members an orientation of First Presbyterian church and its
programs. This class is over two consecutive Sundays from
9:45 -
10:45 am. in the Session room.
