Committee Structure
The Session meets the fourth Thursday of each month except November and December when it meets on the third Thursday. Meetings are held in the Session room at 7:00 pm. The Mission Committee serves as the church's face to the outside world by attracting new membership as well as bringing people to Christ through international and community service. The Mission Committee also oversees the church's benevolences. Chair: Olaf Elton Vice-Chair: Dick Pride Secretary: Woody Griffin The Congregational Care Committee nurtures the Christian life of First Presbyterian members by fostering positive relationships within the church family and lending support in times of joy and need. Chair: Elizabeth Kennedy Vice-Chair: Betty Trost Secretary: Mary Knight The Planning and Leadership Committee identifies organizational needs at First Presbyterian and strives to meet them by keeping accurate records, preparing leaders, and setting short- and long-term goals. Chair: Paul Burton Vice-Chair: Harry Bennett Secretary: George VanGuilder The Christian Education and Nurture Committee encourages spiritual growth for all members by providing opportunities to learn about the Word of God and how to lead a Christian life. Chair: Bill Debnam Vice-Chair: Susan Valliant Secretary: Neill McInnis The Worship and Music Committee oversees Sunday services, including the order, guidelines for Sacraments, music, upkeep of the sanctuary, and ushering to provide an uplifting experience for all who attend and participate. Chair: Nancy King Vice-Chair: Julie Woodard Secretary: Ric Handly The Operations Commission ensures efficient day-to-day functioning of the church by overseeing staff, finances, and maintenance of the building and property.
