First Presbyterian Church sent 17 members to Piedras Negras, Mexico to build a home during the week of June 27 - July 3. Constructores Para Cristo, the organization that organized the work, is a faith-based organization that seeks to break the cycle of poverty through housing, medicine and health care. While they organized the project, we were responsible for purchasing all the materials and providing all the labor. Our team would not be complete without the support of ALL our church members. Through their prayers and letters, the team was able to complete the home in one week. To raise the funds to help pay for the trip, the mission team held a church-wide auction on Friday, April 23 at the church. The goal was to raise $10,000. The silent auction ran from 5:30 - 8:30 with heavy hor d'oeuvres and dessert served at 6:30 pm. A live auction was held from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. A total of $10,500 was raised!. On Sunday, July 4th four
members of the mission team told of their experiences during worship.
