Adult Education ~
We have a strong adult program with many different classes to choose from. The primary resource for the Adult division is The Present Word published by the Presbyterian Church, USA. Each class has its own unique blend of ages, interests, teaching techniques and backgrounds. All classes decide on their own lesson series, so there is a wide variety to choose form. During the summer, an elective is offerred instead of Sunday school. Mary Haw-Wyatt & Men's Bible Class: The class gathers to sing familiar hymns and to study the Bible as it applies to our lives today. The class uses The Present Word for its instruction. There is a dedicated teachers who use a lecture format. The class meets in room 207. Singles & Doubles Class: This class also uses The Present Word curriculum using a lecture and discussion format supplemented with videos. Teachers are drawn from classroom volunteers. This class meets in room 305. Westminster Women's Bible Class: This class is a dynamic group of women who enjoy lively discussions of various Biblical topics. The class is currently hosting an elective course open to all on Max Lucdo's book "Fearless." Teachers come from the class and supplemented by outside lecturers. The class meets in room 308. Sojourners: This class uses a combination of The Present Word curriculum and book discussions. This semester, the class is discussing "Letters to a Skeptic." While led by class members, there is always a lively participation by everyone. This class meets in room 107. Young Adults: This class of young adults explores ways the younger generation can live out their lives as Christians in our modern world. The class likes to focus on a topic, such as finding a center for themselves or raising children in this challenging world, for four to six weeks and uses material from the PEVA resource center. The class is currently reading the book "Blessings of a Skinned Knee." This class meets in the Pastor's office. Inquirer's Class: this class meets quarterly on two consecutive Sundays. It is geared toward new members or prospective members who want to find out more about our church and its programs. The class meets in the Session room. |
